About Claudia Baucon Benedetic



Amorina Creations is the brand which describes the handmade works by Claudia Baucon Benedetic, born in Gorizia - Friuli Venezia Giulia - in the so called Middle Europe.

The artist's life was influenced by the athmosphere and spirit you can feel in this area, which lays few km far from two different countries - Austria and Slovenia - a melting pot of different languages, dialects, cultures and traditions. That is one of the reasons why she decided to study languages: in order to become a world citizen.

Travelling and experiencing new cultures and landscapes inspires her work and increases her curiosity. She seeks the encounter between urban style and tradition. She loves big capital cities as well as mountain woods. She loves local and European traditions, which are so different and yet so close to her at the same time.

Her family - a family of artists - plays an important role in her background. Her mother dabbles in sewing tailor-detailed costumes; her father is inventive, capable of repairing anything and finding new solutions with recycled objects - a kind of "creative recycling" when the phrase was not even yet used;  her sister is a graphic designer in Berlin; her grandfather was a painter, known as Gimi, as well as her uncle is; her aunt decorates and customizes clothing and jewellery... and so on.
By living in such a creative and open-minded environment, her development could not follow another course. In her early years she got closer to art - music in particular - and crafts. When she was only 11 she began studying piano and she carried on until the university years. At the same time she was curious to lwork with materials. She learned to crochet, to practice pyrography, to paint glass and to engrave. In the latest years she has discovered clay sculpture and ceramic.

Pursuing a better and healthier life, she has recently started to appreciate and increasingly use eco-friendly materials, such as ceramics, glass, metal, fabric, recycled materials, to find a way to give her small contribution to the preservation of the environment.

All her creations are unique pieces. She does not like to produce on large scale. She loves handcrafts in the old meaning of the term.

In a non-consumistic spirit part of her production - particularly her jewellery - has more than one use and look, such as the 1x4 necklace.
